Stroke survivors, caregivers, rehabilitation professionals, people seeking better lives: Welcome!
My name is Paul Berger. I had a stroke from a ruptured aneurysm in my brain many years ago at age 36, resulting in severe aphasia and paralysis on my right side. I’m one-handed and my speech is not perfect.
Here you’ll find my proven tips for stroke survivors and caregivers to maximize rehabilitation and therapy, to regain control of your lives, and achieve your goals and dreams.
I tell my story in How to Conquer the World With One Hand...And an Attitude. I’ll show you how to conquer your stroke in presentations and easy-to-read books. Plus, you’ll find lots of free tips, resources and links to products I use every day, right here on my website. Or contact me for coaching and consulting. You will gain:
- The hope you need to return to the activities you love.
- The inspiration to try new things.
- Demonstrated ways to show how you can overcome disabilities, challenges and negative attitudes to set and achieve your personal goals.
- Proven tips to show how everyday people on a budget can use long term speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy to continue to improve years after a stroke.
- You’ll be motivated to follow my lead to live a full life! If I can do it, you can do it, too!
“Your positive message had everyone feeling inspired. Thank you for helping to make our workshop such a wonderful success! We hope to work with you again in the future.” - Brian Glaser, MSW, Regional Education Director, American Heart Association, New Jersey
Plus, my wife Stephanie Mensh, shares her tips for caregivers. She’s proof that spouses of stroke survivors can also enjoy fulfilling lives achieving their own goals and dreams. We have a great relationship —we’ve been married for 23 years—probably because we found ways to communicate despite the speech problems caused by my stroke. And we share a positive attitude and sense of humor to get us through the ups and downs of everyday life.
“I have read 30 books about strokes, its victims and the caretakers, but none even comes close to your descriptions. Your book has been such a help to me.” - Joanne Kirby, spouse of a stroke survivor, Oregon
For medical and rehabilitation professionals, we have ideas and materials to help you take your programs and clients to new levels of achievement. I’ve given commencement speeches at university graduations… presentations to students… seminar sessions at medical con
“I hope your messages are heard and heeded by those that attended your talks. I would be glad to recommend your program.” – Conway Chin, DO, Medical Director of Physical and Rehabilitation Services, Genesis Health System, Davenport, Iowa
For the media, we’ve got a great story—we’re different and uplifting—and we have experience with television and newspaper feature interviews.
We’ve been on NBC, Fox, PBS, and Goodlife TV.
We also give back to our community, and volunteer for many worthy organizations working for people with aphasia, stroke, other disabilities, and their caregivers. We’ve been recognized by our state general assembly, and I won the Award for Individual Achievement from the National Council on Communicative Disorders the same year the Council gave an award to weight-loss guru Jenny Craig.
